The aim of the conference will be to make the salmon projects in the European Rhine catchment area and within Germany better known and to better link the involved persons. We have already planned lectures from several German federal states, from Switzerland, France, the Netherlands and Belgium. We look forward to many participants from management, science and the authorities. Of course, all other interested parties are also very welcome!
On May 10th we offer an excursion to the hydroelectric power station in Iffezheim with a visit of the fish pass. The number of participants is limited and a separate registration is required.
A project meeting of the „GeMoLaR“ project will take place on May 11th. Alternatively, a tour in Landau Zoo is offered by the zoo director during this time (in Engllish!). The zoo is only a few minutes‘ walk from the conference venue.

Background
The salmon is an iconic fish species in many European major river systems. Due to its anadromous migratory behavior and its high habitat requirements, it is an excellent indicator species for vital, ecologically well connected river systems. It is therefore particularly suitable as an „umbrella“ species: many species profit from its protection.
